The trend of colored gemstone engagement rings, which began gaining traction in the 1980s, is set to become even more popular in 2024. While diamonds have long dominated the scene, more couples are opting for vibrant alternatives like emeralds, rubies, and sapphires.

Take Kate Middleton, for instance—her engagement ring features a stunning blue sapphire center with diamond accents, a cherished heirloom from Princess Diana. But she's not alone in this trend. Celebrities like Blake Lively sport pink diamonds in rose gold, courtesy her husband Ryan Reynolds. Katy Perry proudly flaunts a ruby centerpiece from Orlando Bloom. Although, we must say that Victoria Beckham's collection of 15 engagement rings takes the cake with rings that include all of the most popular gemstones. And finally, our reigning pop queen, Taylor Swift, has made the popularity of rubies and opals rise in fashion jewelry over the past year. Often seen sporting these gemstones while cheering on her man, Travis Kelce, on the field, Swift's choices have become synonymous with style and symbolism.
